James M. Koehler

James M Koehler, PE

James, originally from Baltimore Maryland, earned his Bachelor of Science degree from the U.S. Naval Academy as well as a Master of Arts degree from University of Maryland in International Relations. He served 11 years as an officer in the U.S. Marine Corps.

Following that, James decided to pursue an engineering career and earned a Masters of Science degree from the University of Colorado in Hydrology, Water Resources and Environmental Fluid Mechanics, and is a registered Professional Engineer in Colorado.

After consulting in stormwater management, erosion control, and ground water resources, James joined ERC in 2012. Since then, he has worked on stream restoration, surface water management, mining water balances, diversion channel and culvert design, and construction supervision for various hydraulic structures. “I have spent the last five years expanding my skill set and experience in design, stream restoration, and project management. I feel so lucky to work in the beautiful state of Colorado with the dedicated professionals of ERC.”

Out of the office James is as an assistant high school track coach and enjoys spending time with his beautiful wife Abby and their two dogs. They enjoy hiking, biking and playing sports.
