Boxwood Gulch Fly Fishing Resort Stream Enhancements and Trout Habitat Improvements

Project Highlights:

• Client: Boxwood Gulch Fly Fishing Resort Elevation 8,300 feet AMSL
• Drainage: 3/4 of a mile of the North Fork of the South Platte River near Shawnee, Colorado
• Design/build stream improvements to enhance and improve the holding water for large trout
• Improvement of the low flow habitat for large trout which can last for extended periods of time
• Created a low-flow meander within the existing channel banks to provide deeper, cooler flows during critical low flow conditions
• Natural riffle/pool/glide sequences were constructed offering greater habitat variety and angling experiences
